Okay, so y'all know that I'm a life guard at a nearby water park right? So twice a month we have to go to in-service, or basically, more training so that we can still do our jobs properly.
For my first July in-service, we basically did a lame version of Jeopardy for part of it. There questions were given point values of 1-5 points.
And now I begin the funny part of my story.
The point value: 5 (this was a very 'difficult' question, guys)
The question: Why does the body need oxygen?
My answer (dumbed down a bit for you non-meddies) : Because in order for individual cells to be able to do there job and survive, they must go through the process of cellular respiration, of which oxygen is a key reactant
The real answer: The body needs oxygen to live.
TO LIVE!
And despite its medical specificity, my team gained no point for my answer. The other team stole and got the five points instead.
Dorothy, we're not at CBK anymore.
sigh
Do any of you guys have funny stories like that?
Niiiiiice...
ReplyDeleteWell the other day I was in the kitchen with my mom and my brother watching America's Got Talent because it was on and these frankly scarily sweet girls did a dance routine to a stupid song that got stuck in ALL of our heads. I then started trying to figure out which lobe on my brain I had to gouge out to forget ever hearing that song. I never did figure it out, but at least it got the song out of my head.
ReplyDeleteThat's not nearly as good as your story though. Speaking of which, I'm just sitting here baffled by the stupidity of that question they asked you. That was a HARD question?? The question is the answer! "Why does the body need oxygen?" Now in my mind I'm mentally tacking "to live" onto the end of that because if the body NEEDS something, I'm assuming it needs it to maintain life. So when the answer is "The body needs oxygen to live" I'm just sitting here thinking; are you lifeguards really THAT STUPID? Granted you don't need to know why the body needs oxygen in order to give someone mouth-to-mouth, but still! That was a HARD QUESTION? I can't even...*throws up hands and leaves the building*
